Kesari Chapter 2: Can This Be Akshay Kumar’s Big Comeback at the Box Office?

Today we’re diving deep into the buzz around Kesari Chapter 2 — a film that might just be Akshay Kumar’s long-awaited comeback.

Let’s be real, Akshay has had a rough patch at the box office lately. The guy who once ruled Bollywood with back-to-back hits has seen films struggle to even touch the ₹2 crore mark on Day 1 — yeah, that’s less than what some theatres make from popcorn! Trolls don’t miss a beat to highlight this, but guess what? Kesari Chapter 2 might be the turnaround.

His last ₹200 crore film as a solo lead was Sooryavanshi back in 2021. Yes, OMG 2 did touch 200, but Akshay wasn’t the central character. Also, let’s not forget — Sooryavanshi was released just as India was recovering from the pandemic. Theatres weren’t even packed back then.

Still, the man took the bold step to release Bell Bottom in cinemas during COVID when everyone else was running towards OTT. That takes guts. So if anyone can bounce back, it’s Akshay.

Kesari Chapter 2 seems like more than just a movie — it looks like a personal mission. The makers have already held special screenings in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru. Politicians like Delhi’s CM and Union Ministers showed up — and the initial reactions? All positive.

The film dives into a story that reminds us of the value of freedom, something we often take for granted. But it’s also not shying away from the brutality of history, which is probably why it got an A (Adult) certificate. And yeah, that’s the challenge — adult-certified films often struggle with the family audience.

Advance bookings? Around ₹2 crore. Not a bang, but not bad either — especially considering OMG 2 had similar conditions and went on to do wonders.

The vibe in the teaser, trailer, and songs feels like the old-school Akshay Kumar is back — intense, patriotic, and grounded. There’s real potential here.

Oh, and a little spice for the masala lovers — during Kesari 2’s special screening, a reporter asked Akshay about Salman Khan’s Sikandar not doing too well. Akshay, being the classy man he is, said, "Tiger abhi zinda hai, and the kind of Tiger Salman is… he can never die." That’s brotherhood right there.

So, the big question — is Kesari Chapter 2 going to be Akshay Kumar’s redemption arc at the box office? Let us know what you think in the comments.

And hey, don’t forget to subscribe to Screen Wala because tomorrow we drop the very first review of the film right here.
